Service Corporation International Announces Its Anticipated Schedule for Second Quarter 2004 Earnings Release, Conference Call and Filing of Form 10-Q

HOUSTON, Aug. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Service Corporation International (NYSE: SRV) expects to report results for the second quarter 2004 on Monday, August 16, 2004, before the financial markets open. The Company also expects to file its Form 10-Q on August 16, 2004. This timing is contingent upon the status of work related to the Company's preneed funeral contract backlog, including disclosures required by FIN 46 (requiring the consolidation of the Company's trust funds in its financial statements) and the resolution of certain other related accounting matters. The Company does not expect the resolution of these matters to adversely affect its cash balance or cash flows.

A conference call will be hosted by senior management to discuss these results on the same day at 10:00 a.m. (Central Time). Details of the conference call are as follows:
