HOUSTON, April 29, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Service Corporation International (NYSE:SCI), North America's largest provider of funeral and cemetery services, and its brand, Dignity Memorial, today announced the company's 2015 SCI Service Excellence Award recipients. The program, created in 2007, recognizes and honors SCI and Dignity Memorial associates across the country for exceeding expectations through exemplary service toward others and fostering the company's culture of service excellence.

The overall winner, Eric Daniels, Senior Funeral Director at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial and Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge, Fla., was presented with the Steve Mack Award for Service Excellence. Steve Mack, a 42-year veteran of SCI and former Senior Vice President of Operations, lost his battle with cancer in 2015. His career was highlighted by his leadership and dedication to serving families.

In addition, the following SCI associates were named 2015 SCI Service Excellence Award winners:

  • Colleen Bone – Office Manager, Giffen-Mack Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, West Hill, Ontario
  • James Carr – Grounds Maintenance Associate, Skyline Memorial Gardens, Portland, Ore.
  • James Odham, Sr. – Consultant and Former Owner, Cotten Funeral Home, New Bern, N.C.
  • Amber Rauscher – Senior Legal Assistant, SCI Headquarters, Houston, Texas
